"The message she sends is incomparable…"

- Mayor Ron Stewart
Independence, MO

Biography

Music.  It’s one of her passions.  But just one of many.  Vicky is a talented – or perhaps a better word would be ‘anointed’ – singer with a heart for the Lord and His desire to bring people to Him.  She knows the credit for her voice and ministry belongs to God, and she is quick to glorify Him for everything He does in and through her.

The firstborn child of seven, Vicky comes from a family filled with musicians, singers and artists.  She is the mother of three – Angela, Andrew and Sommer.  Her grandchildren, Hunter, Hayden, Halston, Morgan and the twins, Macy and Sydney, range in age from sixteen to one year.

When Vicky was twenty years old, she began singing in nightclubs and country clubs in Kansas City, Missouri.  Her repertoire included all of the popular songs of the day, as well as music from the 30’s, 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, working with entertainers and bands in different genres.  Fifteen years later, she dedicated her life to following the Lord, Jesus Christ, and shortly thereafter began serving as the music minister/worship leader/choir director in a little church.

Over the course of the next seven years, her ministry expanded as her reputation spread and Vicky began to perform concerts around the Midwest and across the nation.  She started a sign language youth group called “Uplifted Hands”, teaching them to sign to her music and occasionally taking them on tour with her.  The majority of the teens in the group came from single parent families that were struggling to survive.  Their involvement in “Uplifted Hands” was a powerful tool the Lord used to help build the self-esteem of those young people, as well as to draw them closer to Him and minister to others.  Their ministry was anointed and the changes in their lives were significant as the seeds of God’s love were planted in their hearts.  In 1997, the Lord showed Vicky that He was taking the sign language music ministry He had started through her around the world.  Not long after that experience, she began to receive phone calls from other churches that were trying to get the same thing started in their youth groups, some of which asked for her assistance to help launch their efforts.  After two years of ministry with “Uplifted Hands”, the Lord told Vicky she could release the leadership of the group to one of her students.  He said He had other work for her to do.

Other aspects of ministry began to take shape, as the Lord increased and revealed other gifts He had given to Vicky.  She began to preach, teach and testify in a number of different settings.  She led worship leader workshops, healing retreats and Bible studies.  She and her husband Alan have been involved in jail and prison ministry, sharing her music and testimony in both minimum and maximum security prisons, as well as in city and county jails in several states around the country.

In 1996, Vicky went to Praise Hymn Studios in Nashville to record her first CD, entitled “Remembrance”.  She returned to Nashville two years later to record her next project, entitled “Transforming Grace”.  All of the cover songs on these two recordings contain messages that encourage and inspire the listener to love the Lord, Jesus Christ.

In 1999, Vicky and her family recorded “The Birth of Christ – A Family Album” in their studio in Missouri.  It was their first project as a family and contains two original songs by Vicky:  “Little Baby Jesus” and “King of all Kings”.  Included on the CD are her siblings Linda, Bryan, John and Joe, along with Uncle Greg.  The CD was carried by local Christian bookstores and received airplay on local Christian stations.  Their next project, entitled “Call to the Nations” contains all original songs written by Vicky and arranged and performed by family members.  “I’m So Glad”, one of the songs on the project, has made its way to the charts on radio stations in Europe .

In 2000, Vicky received an invitation to become the pastor of a small church in Florida for a short time.  After much prayer, she felt the assurance and direction of the Holy Spirit to accept the responsibility.  She watched as God brought people who were struggling with addictions to drugs, alcohol, pornography, sexual sin, perversion and prostitution.  He brought people who were homeless, people who were poverty-stricken, people who were sure that God couldn’t really love them, people who felt rejected by other churches.  He brought the bruised and brokenhearted – and gave them hope as they entered into real relationships with Him.  Many were baptized.  God changed their lives as only He can.

In 2002, she finished her work with the church and returned to Missouri.  For the next year, Vicky spent time working on her home (mudding, taping, sanding, painting, decorating, arranging and rearranging…and rearranging…and painting some more…!)

2004 was a very busy year for Vicky.  In November of 2003, the Lord told Vicky that He was taking her sister Cindy home to be with Him.  The family was unaware that Cindy was so sick – and certainly didn’t know that she had cancer.  Alan and Vicky invited her to live with them and, much to their surprise, she agreed.  Cindy came to live with them before she went home to be with the Lord on February 17th at 4:20 p.m., following a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

In August of 2004, Vicky and Alan applied for and received non-profit status as a 501(C)3 organization.  The name of the organization is Freedom in Jesus Christ Charitable Trust.  Vicky and Alan are the Founders/Trustees of the organization, which is a public charity.

That same year, Vicky and Alan began a ministry in an assisted living center, where she serves as the pastor, holding services twice a month.  She also joined the Country Gospel Music Association and Co-Hosted their International Awards Convention in Branson, Missouri.  Her musical style expanded once again as she began to include songs with a country flavor to her repertoire.  She was nominated for Christian Artist of the Year by KCChristianMusic.com and for Christmas CD of the Year by King Cat Music.

For the last several years, Vicky has continued to perform in concert.  In 2006, she wrote her first book, “ONLY BELIEVE”, a testimony of the love of God and some of the things He taught her through the circumstances in her life.  She also wrote her first 30 day devotional, entitled “THIRTY & THREE”, during that time.  A year later, she added another 30 day devotional and started writing her second book “UNSHAKABLE FAITH”, a compilation of testimonies of God’s grace to take us through anything – regardless of how difficult – strengthening us through every trial.

In 2006, she was invited to share her ministry in Washington and ministered through music and the spoken word in Seattle, (Union Gospel Mission), as well as in churches at Celebrate Recovery in Pasco and Kennewick.  She can relate very well to those trapped in bondage to addictions, having overcome many of them herself with the help of the Lord.  Her message and the hope she inspires is a gift of the Holy Spirit that touches many lives as she shares the struggles of her past and the victorious movement of God in her life.

In 2007, Vicky began singing in assisted living centers in Kansas and Missouri.  She also started entertaining the ladies with Red Hat Parties – playing games, singing, making and giving them sachets.  The sachets (and the parties) were so well received that Vicky started a for-profit business called V V Sachet, with the goal of raising money to support the many ministry outreaches that she and her husband hope to start and others they want to assist financially.  She credits the Lord with the idea and believes that it is His plan to use it to one day help many people.

Vicky is not only a talented singer and songwriter but also a gifted author, speaker and minister of the Gospel.  Her style is inspirational and intergenerational, touching the hearts of people from all walks of life.  She spends as much time as possible ministering through her music, humor and the spoken word.  She uses her gifts in diverse settings as she shares her music and ministry.  She is often the featured artist, guest speaker, co-host or minister at the events in which she participates.

Passion.  Gifts.  Talents.  A heart for God.  What does this woman of God have to say about it all?  In Vicky’s own words…

“God is so amazing.  Without Him, I cannot breathe.  Of course I can’t.  Without Him I wouldn’t even exist – without Him, "nothing" wouldn't even exist!   I need Him every second of every day.  I need Him in the spaces between the seconds.  Anything I ever do that blesses anybody is because of Him.  I am thrilled to be one of His vessels and so grateful that He sees me through His beautiful eyes of love – through His perfect sacrifice – Jesus.  I’m grateful for everything He does in me and through me – including the things that are not always easy.  I know what I am without Him.  NOTHING!  I love Him with all of my heart and I am humbled by His grace.  God doesn’t have to share His gifts with us, but He does.  He’s that BIG.  He’s that LOVING.  He’s truly that AMAZING!  He’s bigger than my wildest dreams.  I’m so glad that He’s GOD!”
